The Empire Avenue Interviews moderated by Robert Lavigne

This is an interview series I put together in collaboration with Empire Avenue.

It features interviews with the co-founders of Empire Avenue and prominent members of Empire Avenue.

The interview series culminated in the production of a Short Film called Stories from the Avenue.

Of significant note is the use of YouTube Annotations that link the Short Film to select Full Interviews. This technique allows for the creation of a menu system on YouTube that brings together a complete collection of videos. The use of annotations is a growing tactic within the development of YouTube-based campaigns.

Creating Alpha Transparency Animation in Keynote and Importing into iMovie

Some nights, you decide to try something to prove to yourself you can do it. Other nights, you decide to try something to see what kind of problems you will run into. On both nights, the outcome is the same, you attempt the new so that you can learn something new.

In this test video you can see the end result of a multi-slide keynote which is then mapped onto an iMovie project.

Why is this so important? Keynote has amazing object transition effects as well as slide transition effects right out of the box. By creating an alpha animation in keynote, you can bypass the limitations of the title options available in iMovie and create some pretty amazing videos.

What to see the real end result of this work? Stay tuned.

UPDATE: This is a good reference to achieve the above. Although I do it slightly different, this technique works. http://www.sondette.com/public/blog/?p=402

“It’s all about the Milk!” – Robert Lavigne reviews Magisto, the Cloud-based “In a Click!” Video Editing Platform

Per their website, Magisto asks the question…

Isn’t video editing

too complicated and time-consuming?

As the owner of #TDGv Studios: A Collaborative Digital Agency, I spend quite a few days and nights editing and producing digital video.

In video editing, there are various degrees of work involved in producing edited video. To think that a single tool could replace the professional video editor is a fallacy. However, there are many video edits that should not require the expertise of a video production team. This is where Magisto can really shine with their cloud-based platform.

I first heard about Magisto on September 20, 2011. Mashable announced that Magisto had “raised $5.5 million in a Series B round of financing.” My initial Magisto discovery process was logged in the following @RLavigne42 Tweet Round-Up entry.

I saw plenty of opportunities for a cloud-based tool such as Magisto.

It was obvious to me that I needed to become familiar with Magisto further.

So I decided to take Magisto on vacation with me to New York and Pennsylvania, USA.

On October 28, 2011, Robert Lavigne

(hereafter referred to as me 😉)

presented the

Inaugural Life@42 Workshop

The 45-min keynote was based on my own Personal Branding Experience and Social Business Research of the last Two Years.

The keynote was intended to be a Full Transparency example, of what was possible using myself as the Use Case itself (warts and all).

“Content is Free, Context is Where the Value is.” ~Robert Lavigne (April 20, 2010)

In my original blog My Thoughts Enclosed…, I posted the following entry.

My Thoughts Enclosed:

The Three Gears of Enterprise Social Media Adoption

The Three Gears of Enterprise Social Media Adoption in a Nutshell

First Gear of Enterprise Social Media Adoption (self-directed behaviour) – characterized by Hoarding of Knowledge and/or Broadcasting of Content leading to bot-like behaviours that fails to engage the intended audience into a collaborative encounter.

Second Gear of Enterprise Social Media Adoption (reciprocity behaviour) – characterized by Sharing of Content with unrealistic expectation.  Using Social Media in Second Gear leads you to revert to First Gear when someone doesn’t comment/like/retweet before gaining real engagement and collaboration.

Third Gear of Enterprise Social Media Adoption (the “good guy” or “amazing woman” behaviour) – characterized by sharing content to a larger community freely, openly and without reservation, with a likely outcome of finding the truly engaged and collaborative community that you were searching for.

Only through engaging using a Third Gear philosophy will you achieve the real value proposition that Social Media can deliver.  Whether it is within your organization using Enterprise 2.0, or outside of your organization using Social CRM, your mindset and attitude in using the tools will determine your success or failure and not the tools themselves.

In that blog entry, I also originated the statement

“Content is free, context is where the value is.” ~Robert Lavigne (April 20, 2010)

In the upcoming blog entry, it will evolve into

“Content is Free. Context is Not!”

Value YOUR Context. Engage YOUR Community.

Robert Lavigne answers the question “What the Heck is a Hashtag?” to the Brantford Entrepreneurs on October 28, 2011

Recorded on October 28, 2011

Robert Lavigne presenting the inaugural Life@42 Social Business Workshop with the Brantford Entrepreneurs

A lot of people never have seen a Hash Tag on Twitter.

So they look at it and ask…

“What the Heck is a Hash Tag?”

A Hash Tag is a new way of organizing dialogue, so anybody that uses the #BRANTS Hash Tag is now tagging their message with the rest of the community.

I have people in Boston, people in the United States, people overseas, who are actually aware that this presentation is going on.  They will be monitoring the #BRANTS Hash Tag as well.  Don’t be surprised, if some of the people that are part of the presentation also show up in the Twitter feed with us.

That is what a Hash Tag is all about.

I am purposely using the #BRANTS Hash Tag as opposed to an event specific Hash Tag.  That way, you are exposing yourself to other people in the Brantford Community that make use of the #BRANTS Hash Tag.

I could have used the Hash Tag “#KickAssWorkShop featuring @RLavigne42” in a tweet.  However, only the people using the Hash Tag #KickAssWorkShop would be aware of it.

The GOAL, whenever you are using a Hash Tag, is to use it in such a way that you are making your visibility more than just with the people that are physically and psychically around you.

For this particular workshop, I am using the #BRANTS Hash Tag because of the hospitality of Brantford, Ontario.
